چکیده

Abstract. In the last decade, Climate Limited-area Modeling Community (CLM-Community) has contributed to Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) with an extensive set of regional climate simulations. Using several versions COSMO-CLM-Community model, ERA-Interim reanalysis and eight global models from phase 5 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) were dynamically downscaled horizontal grid spacings 0.44∘ (∼ 50 km), 0.22∘ 25 0.11∘ 12 km) over CORDEX domains Europe, South Asia, East Australasia, Africa. This major effort resulted in 80 simulations publicly available through Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) web portals for use impact studies scenario assessments. Here we review production these assess their results terms mean near-surface temperature precipitation aid future design COSMO-CLM model It is found that a domain-specific parameter tuning beneficial, while increasing resolution (from or km spacing) alone does not always improve performance simulation. CORDEX – An international climate downscaling initiative

The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) is backing an international initiative called the COordinated Regional climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX). The goal of the initiative is to provide regionally downscaled climate projections for most land regions of the globe, as a compliment to the global climate model projections performed within the fifth Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (...

Addressing climate information needs at the regional level : the CORDEX framework

The need for climate change information at the regional-to-local scale is one of the central issues within the global change debate. Such information is necessary in order to assess the impacts of climate change on human and natural systems and to develop suitable adaptation and mitigation strategies at the national level. The end-user and policy-making communities have long sought reliable reg...

Development of Regional Climate Scenarios Using a Downscaling Approach

As the debate on potential climate change continues, it is becoming increasingly clear that the main concerns to the general public are the potential impacts of a change in the climate on societal and biophysical systems. In order to address these concerns researchers need realistic, plausible scenarios of climate change suitable for use in impacts analysis. It is the purpose of this paper to p...

Regional climate model downscaling of the U.S. summer climate and future change

[1] A mesoscale model (MM5)–based regional climate model (CMM5) integration driven by the Parallel Climate Model (PCM), a fully coupled atmosphere-ocean-land-ice general circulation model (GCM), for the present (1986–1995) summer season climate is first compared with observations to study the CMM5’s downscaling skill and uncertainty over the United States. The results indicate that the CMM5, wi...
